Argus AF
Argus "A"
with Argus IRC shutter & f4.5 Anastigmat lens. Argus model A, was introduced
in May, 1936 and discontinued in 1941. The Argus model A was the first USA-made
35mm camera to use Eastman Kodak 35mm cassette.
The Argus model AF was made for two years, from 1937 to 38. It has the
same double spindle on the film advance of earlier model A's, but can
focus at all distances instead of only 2 steps as the "A". It was a "Bakelight"
(hard plastic) copy of the 1a Leicas, selling for $12.50 new and close to the
same today.
