PhotoShop Clone Tool

Sometimes you want to remove something (like the shadow in the very
bottom, right corner of the below photo) because it distracts. PhotoShop,
and most other photo programs have the ability. It comes in handy for
insect photos, since you'll find there's times you need to smooth
background or remove glare. Hope this helps...
 1. Click the
"Stamp/Clone Tool". You'll see a circle, the size can be adjusted. You'll see
this in the third shot.
2. Place the circle outside the area you want to fix, and press your "alt"
key.

3. When you press your "alt" key, the circle becomes a small cross hair to
confirm you choice.

4. Following any straight line you have in the photo, move the circle to
cover the leading section of the area to be cloned and click your mouse. You'll
see the front edge of the distraction disappear, and replaced with a blended
section of the area.

5. Do a small section each time. Keep following your line, and repeat until
finished. With only a little practice, you'll find you can blend away more
complicated areas. The trick is finding straight lines, since curves can't be
followed. For those areas, try your smudge tool to help blend.
*NOTE:
The size of the "Clone Circle" is adjusted in pixels toward the left of the
toolbar at top.
Completed Clone.

Example Cloned Photo:
For this photo "Bucket Fill" and "Clone Tool" were used to smooth
the background. Other adjustments were to increase contrast a slight bit using
the "Levels" function. Lastly, ran through noise reduction.
